Running Horse running into road blocks

Well, it’s off again. Like a typical California star relationship, golf course architect Donald Trump’s courting of the Running Horse project has ended - for the 3,463rd time.

Donald Trump withdrew his $30 million offer for the bankrupt Running Horse golf and residential development in Fresno.

Trump representatives said they are frustrated by failed attempts to buy several privately owned parcels in the middle of the project at an acceptable price.

And the billionaire developer was surprised to learn the area in southwest Fresno had too much open land and too few blighted buildings to qualify as a redevelopment area — which carries tax benefits.

But Trump’s daughter said at a downtown Fresno news conference on Friday that her father is not giving up on Running Horse.

Also, Fresno Mayor Alan Autry said he will ask state lawmakers for special legislation that would enable the area to get the redevelopment area status.

At least there’s hope for a reconciliation!
