For anyone who wants to golf Fishers Island, you can attend a charity tournament there. There is only one charity tournament that is held there every year, the Talcott Stanley Golf Classic supporting the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford CT. Spots are still available for this year’s tournament (9/24/08) for those who really, really want to play Fishers Island Club. Nice summary of the island’s history. Had to chuckle a bit at the last sentence about calling for tee times — is there really such a thing as “public access” at Fishers Island GC?? (OK, I’m only half-kidding here. I’m tempted to call the number just to confirm my suspicions that I if I inquired about arranging a tee time, all I would hear is “click.”)
