Sugarloaf’s 13th gets the big time

While the 288-yard par 3 at Oakmont is getting a lot of attention for how long and hard it will play, the par four 13th at TPC Sugarloaf - just 22 yards longer - is getting some attention for how short and easy it plays. Sugarloaf is hosting this week’s PGA Tour event - the AT&T Classic.

“We go for it,” Stenson said. “I think it’s a driver all day long on that one.”

The hole will play 310 yards and is traditionally the easiest on the course. Stenson is a big supporter of short par 4s.

“I enjoy every golf course that has a short par-4, and I think pretty much every course should have one,” he said. “It gives you the opportunity to make something spectacular if you have to, especially when it’s on the back nine. If you make an eagle, you can probably pick up two shots. It’s a good hole.”

The 13th is actually a great short par 4 - and probably the best hole at Sugarloaf.
