The WPGA board of directors recently approved an ambitious plan to introduce golf to kids at schools throughout the state.

The goal is to reach 90,000 children over the next three years through a program in which PGA professionals teach golf in physical education classes at no cost to the schools or taxpayers.

The WPGA Junior Foundation has begun a $1.6 million fund-raising campaign, with the WPGA board voting unanimously to match dollar-for-dollar the first $250,000 raised.
